Job Description
Position Description: Manages and is responsible to lead estimating and preconstruction functions that may be required during preconstruction including value engineering and constructability. Takes the lead from an Estimating/Preconstruction basis on projects assigned, which may range from $5 million to $200 million.
Reports To: Manager of Preconstruction
Essential Duties & Responsibilities*:
-Lead in the development of preparing estimates from a conceptual through construction documents phase of preconstruction.
-Work in conjunction with Operations to ensure that detailed General Conditions and requirement (GC/GRs) estimates are prepared, and reviewed with others as needed.
-Responsible for the value engineering process during preconstruction for the assigned projects.
-Responsible to interact with operations staff, design team and owner representatives with respect to constructability input.
-Manage the junior staff that will assist in quantification of documents.
-Work with the project team and the Purchasing staff in evaluating and analyzing subcontractor proposals.
-Manage the allocation of work hours for staff assigned to projects to ensure it is within budgetary guidelines.
-Communicate and collaborate with Operations and Purchasing during preconstruction efforts.
-Develop and enhance owner, architect, subcontractor and vendor relations.
-Work with department to develop systems, approaches and tools using Building Information Models (BIM) and other software in order to provide best in class services for our clients.
Physical Demands: Performance of the required duties will require physical ability to climb permanent and temporary stairs, passenger use of construction personnel hoists, ability to climb ladders and negotiate work areas under construction. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Performing this job requires use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, sit, talk and hear, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

• Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or similar, plus eight or more years post college experience, with at least four years in an estimating role. Desirable attributes also include presentation skills, proposal skills, BIM skills, design build experience. Ideal candidate would demonstrate an imaginative, innovative and passionate approach to continuous improvement in serving our clients.
